Overview
Volunteers play an essential role at MCAF, providing valuable information and support to newcomers as they adapt to Canadian culture. Some ways you can volunteer at MCAF include:
- Volunteers are matched with newcomers arriving in Fredericton to provide friendship, get used to daily life in Canada and facilitate newcomers’ participation in the community. This experience gives each the opportunity to make a new friend and to learn about another culture and language. Time commitment: a few hours per week, for a minimum of 6 months. The HOST program is funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC)
- Volunteer tutors for English (or French) as a Second Language students can meet with newcomer participants individually or in small groups. No training or experience is required. There is a wide array of language abilities and needs among the participants of the English classes. Time Commitment: 1 to 2 hours, once or twice per week.
