English-as-a-Second-Language Training

MCAF second language classes assist newcomers to attain second language skills in order to settle in Canada.  Permanent residents will contact the English Language Program (ELP) at 453-3564 to arrange an appointment for an assessment to access Language Learning and Skills Development (LLSD) training. The MCAF English as a second language classes include:

- Language Learning and Skills Development (LLSD)

The LLSD classes will assist permanent residents to enhance their English skills. LLSD is delivered from the Foundation level up to Level 4/5.

- NB Employment Language Training (NBELT)

NBELT works with newcomers on labour market language training, employment preparation, assertiveness, computer skills and work placements. This level works with newcomers on labour market language training, employment preparation, assertiveness, computer skills and work placements. NBELT is funded by Citizenship & Immigration Canada, NB Department of Post Secondary Education, Training and Labour (DEPTL) and co-funded through the NB Multicultural Council (NBMC).

- Business English for Newcomers (BEN)

The MCAF’s Business English for Newcomers is a course designed to provide newcomers to Canada with the English skills, cultural awareness and information necessary to commence and successfully manage a business in New Brunswick.

Participants in this program are newcomers who are planning to start a business in New Brunswick; have an appropriate level of language proficiency; require information and orientation on available resources to start a business in New Brunswick and are willing and able to make the required time commitment to the course.

Business Englsih for Newcomers class is funded by the NB Popoulation Growth Division.

- Temporary Foreign Worker English Classes (TFW)

The TFW classes are designed to assist temporary foreign workers and their spouses to enhance their English language skills. TFW classes are delivered from Level 1 up to Level 4+.

TFW classes are funded by the NB Popoulation Growth Division.

- English/French tutorials are also available in the Newcomer Computer Learning Centre (NCLC).


French-as-a-Second-Language Training

MCAF offers currently part time French as a Second Language for permanent residents to Canada.
